Process

Let's get started!

1. Locate and click the New Blog button.  (hint: It's around the top left corner)
2. Choose a Title for your Blog
3. Choose a URL for your Blog.  This is the web address for your blog, so find something that relates to your blog and everyone can remember.  Keep in mind that the URL is what you will be sharing with everyone.  They type in the URL in their web browser to access your Blog.
4. Choose a Template.  I like to have a lot of pictures in my blog, so I usually choose Picture Window. (Don't worry, you can always change it later)
5. Click Create Blog to start Posting.

Posting:

You will now be back at your blog list page. It will say, "Your Blog has been created! Start posting". Guess what you should do?  Yep, click start posting.

This is where you build your blog's home page.  This is the first page people see when they enter the URL, so spend some time and make this attractive.  Think of this as an introduction to a piece of writing, you want to give them just enough so the reader will continue to read.

Insert a Picture:

Now try to insert a picture.  From the tool bar up top, you will see the insert picture icon right beside the link icon.  You will mainly be using either upload or from a URL.  Upload is if you have the picture in your hard drive (Your laptop or computer).  If it is, then click Choose files.  It will ask you to locate the picture.

If you want to use a picture from another web page, right click on an image and copy the URL, it will usually end with .jpg, .png or .gif.  Then you can click the From a URL button and enter or paste the URL in the URL box.

You can resize the picture by clicking it and choose between S,M,L,XL or Original.  Choose one that fits your page.

The Link icon is for you to insert a link/URL to another web site or blog.  The rest of the icons are similar to a typical Word Processor like Microsoft Office.  Feel free to play around with them and dress up your blog.

Once you are done, click Publish.  Once you click Publish, your blog is LIVE!

* It will ask you who you would like to share with, you can just click cancel for now.

Adding Pages:

Let's add a new page! Notice on top of my Blog there are different tabs? (Home, Task, Process...) These are pages.

From the My Blogs page:

Choose Layout on the left. Click one of the Add a Gadget link in blue. (That's where your tabs will be created) Scroll down the Gadget List and choose Pages then Save.



Don't forget to check all the pages you want on your tab!  You can always go back and edit your Gadget to include new Pages.

Now from the My Blogs Page, choose Pages on the left side under Posts. Click New Page. This will open up a new page that looks the same as your first post.  When you are done, click Publish, and this page will be added to your first post as a button on the top of your home page.  If you decide to edit this page later, don't forget to click Update when you are done.

You may add as many pages as you like.


Congratulations!  Your Blog is DONE!

Feel free to play around with the layout and template.  Update and edit your blog often, that's how you can attract more viewers.  Click on the Stats button on the My Blogs page to see interesting stats like how many views you have, and even where the views are coming from.  Enjoy!
